Satisfaction at work is not about what you do for a living; it is about whom you work with. And I’m not just talking about co-workers. Our clients amaze me everyday. Not only are they smart and savvy, but they also do great things to make our community a better place.
It means a lot to have the opportunity to work with organizations that benefit the community, and Envoy is lucky to work with several. One of those is Westside Community Schools and its EATS! program.
Did you know that in 2008, 18.5 million low-income children received free or reduced-price meals through the National School Lunch Program? That makes for a lot of hungry kids during the summer months, when school lunch programs are on hiatus. For many of these children, school lunch was the only healthy meal they could count on in a day. So, while for most children summer means fun, for these children, it means hunger.
Growing boys and girls need nutritious food, and Westside’s EATS! — which stands for “Eat All Through Summer” — ensures that every kid has access to at least one nutritious meal a day. You might call me biased because I am an alumnus, but Westside is a great school district!
EATS! is funded by the USDA and carried out by Westside’s Nutrition Services Department. Designed for children ages 1 to 18, the program is offered on weekdays through July 31 at 35 qualifying sites throughout the Omaha metro area.
You can see how working with a client like Westside and helping hungry children obtain access to nutritious food is an incredibly rewarding part of my job. Thank you, Westside, and to all of our other amazing clients, for all you do to make our community a better place.
