“Creative ideas flourish best in a shop which preserves some spirit of fun. Nobody is in business for fun, but that does not mean there cannot be fun in business.”
—Leo Burnett
This quote appears on a large wall display in Envoy’s office as you walk in the door. It has generated many comments from our visitors who tend to agree with Leo.
Our office is a fun place. Not a day goes by that you won’t hear a giggle and a huge belly laugh. The spirit of fun!
We love when Envoyers’ babies, kids and dogs come to visit. There is nothing better than to see one of the little ones smile, tell a story or sing a song. We smile; we laugh. It may be a short visit, but we return to our tasks with a renewed energy. Even receiving children’s pictures from clients, vendors and staff isrefreshing. Children really are the spirit of fun.
When employees’ dogs come to the office, they usually stay longer. They visit each employee’s area for some attention. So we toss a ball or toy or give them a good petting, and it makes both the dog and us happy. They bring a spirit of fun to the office.
Our holiday parties are wonderful fun, as are our open house parties. Our clients and vendors (who are also fun people) were asked to choose the theme for our “New Digs” open house in June 2009. They chose Christmas. I still wonder what our neighboring businesses thought about the huge blow-up Santa that was set up outside our front door. Hopefully they appreciated our spirit of fun.
I know that creativity and fun go hand and hand. As Envoy’s receptionist, I see it every day through my co-workers and their work. I see the finished product, and I am amazed at their talent, creativity and spirit of fun.
