What is your favorite SWAG (stuff we all get) that escaped the trashcan? You know, that clever promotional item from a trade show or event, or even a freebie you received in the mail, that sports the logo of the company that wants your business. I have a USB pen that goes everywhere with me — I never know when I might need to grab a file or share a photo.
Many of these giveaway products, while interesting and sometimes useful, typically become trashcan fodder — or sometimes they land in my 2-year-old’s toy box at home. Trying to entice prospects and customers with something they will value and hold on to, while staying within a reasonable budget, is always a difficult task.
These days, companies have become innovative with their SWAG, going beyond simple ballpoint pens and notepads. USB flash drives are popular, and people tend to keep them. Who can’t use another flash drive? You’ll also see items like bottled water with customized labels, holiday ornaments, insect repellent bracelets, cell phone and business card holders, and hand sanitizer. Companies have figured out that the more useful their SWAG, the longer people will keep it — and that means the more frequently they will be reminded of the company.
What is the one thing you received at a trade show, in the mail or at a meeting that you have held on to and use regularly? Post your comments to the Envoy blog, then send your e-mail address to agoldyn@envoyinc.com, and we’ll send you some Envoy SWAG.
