News and Information We’d Like You to Know
If you are not categorized as being at a “high risk” of contracting the flu, you were discouraged from getting a flu shot — until now.
Monday was the first day that flu shot clinics, put on by the Visiting Nurse Association (one of our clients) were open to the general public.
The VNA encourages healthy individuals to get a flu shot — not just to protect themselves from often debilitating symptoms, but to prevent the spread of influenza to others.
The optimal time to receive a flu vaccination is during October and November because it takes about two weeks to develop immunity after receiving a flu shot.
And unlike the past two years, the VNA expects to have an adequate supply of the flu vaccine on hand.
