Roberts Dairy Day ProclamationRoberts Dairy was recognized for its contributions to the community today Omaha Mayor Mike Fahey proclaimed Monday, Sept. 4 as “Roberts Dairy Day” during a ceremony at the Qwest Center Arena and Convention Center. Mayor Fahey presented the proclamation to Roberts Dairy President Jeff Powell. Also on hand was Ron Richardson, retired past president of Roberts Dairy and Larry Kochen, retired Omaha Division Manager for Roberts. Representing the Dairy Farmers of America were Bill Siebenborn, DFA Board member and Roberts Dairy board member, Randy McGinnis, Vice President & Chief Operating Officer of the Central Area Dairy Council, Keith Bohlander, Region III Area Manager of the Central Area Dairy Council and Joe Bouslaugh, Field Supervisor for the Central Area Dairy Council.

Other special guests included: Tammy Yarmon, Director of Nutrition Services for Omaha Public Schools, Dr. Al Inzerello, assistant superintendent, and Diane Zipay, Director of Nutrition Services, from the Westside Community School District and Mary Hansen, Food Services Director for Bellevue Public Schools. Also recognized in the 15-minute ceremony were Nicole Theopolilus, Vice President of ConAgra Foods, and Tom Dahlk, Managing Partner and Todd Richardson, Partner, from the Omaha law firm of Blackwell Sanders Peper Martin.

To mark the special occasion, Roberts had all four of its oversized cows on display, along with a restored, horse-drawn milk wagon. This was the first time all five company icons had been on display at one time, in one place. The four cows will remain on display outside the Qwest Center throughout the weekend and will be a part of Monday’s Septemberfest Salute to Labor Day parade through the streets of Downtown Omaha.

Roberts Dairy was founded in 1906 when J.R. Roberts began home delivery of milk produced by his herd of 60 cows near Lincoln, Neb. Roberts has been an integral part of the Omaha community since its plant at 29th & Cuming opened in 1922.
